Park Si Hoo returns to Korea in October. But although he has received offers for roles, he will postpone his comeback plans until early next year.
"He will resume his career activities at some point but not right now," said a representative from his agency. "He received requests to be in films and dramas. Although he is keeping a low profile in Korea, he is receiving a lot of attention overseas."
The actor has been living in California and visiting friends while the fallout from his legal problems died down. The only work he has done since becoming the subject of a police investigation in February is a single photo shoot, which was scheduled months in advance.
"The photo shoot was for a contract he signed before all this happened so he had to fulfill his promise," said his agency.
The photos will only be released in Japan.
Park's legal problems began in February while he was still enjoying the success of his recent comedy "Cheomdamdung Alice."
A trainee actress known as "A" filed charges against the actor claiming that he sexually assaulted her. The couple dined with friends and she returned to his apartment. He said their relations were consensual. She said she was too drunk to consent. The Seoul Police investigated the case and forwarded it to the prosecutor's office. Park Shi Hoo counter-sued the actress and his former EYAGI Entertainment manager for conspiring with her. In return, Hwang filed another suit against the actor.
In May, the actress dropped her charges against Park Shi Hoo and the prosecutor withdrew the indictment. Although the actress texted a friend that she would ask the actor for settlement money and rumors said he eventually paid her $90,000, the actor denied any financial settlement.
When the actress withdrew her charges, the actor dropped his lawsuit against her. Park Shi Hoo tried to drop the lawsuit against Hwang, asking his former manager to drop his countersuit, but Hwang insisted on getting a personal apology from the actor. After mediation, the two reached an agreement.
The situation was traumatic for everyone involved. After he was cleared of the charges, the actor reassured his fans that he would be back but said he had no definite deadline.
" I can't promise when it will be," he wrote. "But I promise to come back as a stronger, more solid, and more mature actor."
According to his management agency, he is doing well and is optimistic about the future.
