‘Lovely Runner’ Star Byeon Woo Seok Reveals He Failed More Than 100 Auditions: ‘I Tried a Lot’

Byeon Woo Seok went real about his career path. As he headlines his new K-drama "Lovely Runner," the actor revealed the struggles he experienced before rising to stardom.

One of fans' current obsessions today is "Lovely Runner" actor Byeon Woo Seok. As the series accumulates thousands of viewers, the actor is also amassing widespread popularity.

In "Lovely Runner," Byeon Woo Seok plays the character of Ryu Sun Jae, a talented idol. This is his first work this 2024, following the conclusion of "Strong Girl Nam Soon" in 2023. 

Despite playing the character of a high school student again, Byeon Woo Seok boasts strong charisma onscreen. Adding to the audience's excitement is the actor's charm and natural chemistry with his co-star Kim Hye Yoon.

As the drama receives positive reviews, the "Record of Youth" star also makes special appearances on TV shows to promote his current work.

On April 16, he appeared in the variety talk show "Jewel Box," hosted by Hong Seok Cheon. There, he talked about his humble beginnings and how he has shifted his career from modeling to acting. 

Byeon Woo Seok Reveals Failing Over 100 Auditions 

While he started out as a model, Byeon Woo Seok began his acting journey at the age of 20. He was a college student at that time.

The host chimed in and said that the first time he saw Byeon Woo Seok as a model, he already saw his potential to become an actor due to his actor-like face.

He gave the celebrity advice at the time, saying:

"That's why I always say to him that you never know when the opportunity will come, so make sure you learn how to act."

Then Byeon Woo Seok shared his not-so-smooth sailing journey in entering the world of show business. 

"I think I failed more than a hundred times at the auditions. I kept failing. I failed almost every time, to the point where I wondered if I could fail this much.

In fact, I tried a lot. As I continued to do it, from then on I began getting auditions and progressed one by one."

Byeon Woo Seok Expresses Gratitude to People Appreciating His Works

The heartthrob mentioned his debut project "Dear My Friend" and recalled how challenging it was to act for the first time. But despite being a rookie, he expressed his gratitude to one of his former senior co-stars.

"The person who acted with me a lot was senior Yoon Yeo Jeong, and she even brought me fruits."

Regarding his popularity in the movie "20th Century Girl," Byeon Woo Seok said that he was so grateful that people loved the work.

"Seeing that people liked the work and the character, made me want to work harder."

Byeon Woo Seok is currently stealing hearts with his ongoing drama "Lovely Runner." With his charm and immersive portrayal, the actor continues to receive praise from global fans.
