Kim Woo Bin and Suzy, who co-starred in the 2016 romantic drama Uncontrollably Fond, will reunite for the new Netflix series Genie, Make A Wish.

The supernatural romantic comedy looks to draw in viewers with its whimsical plot, but reactions suggest early on a lukewarm reception.

The series, which was revealed in May this year, chronicles the tale of Jinn, a genie (Kim Woo Bin) who reawakens after a millennium and takes human form.

Ga Young (played by Suzy) meets a Jinn who offers her three wishes that are supposed to change her life. A series of ridiculous conflicts along the way lead to their unlikely friendship.
Though the expectations of K-Drama fans are hoping for a happy ending, the likes of which Uncontrollably Fond tantalizingly denied viewers have been high, and early response to the teaser and casting has been decidedly lukewarm.
Comments from a South Korean online community called Instiz showed mixed reviews.
"Why is this directing so tacky?" Another replied, "I thought it was fine when watching the still cuts, but then..."

Viewers noted the visual aspects as unappealing, with comments such as "The color grading is underwhelming" and "I thought it was underwhelming, too."
Some were more positive, citing chemistry between the leads. "They look good together. I like it," one fan wrote.
Yet another argued, "Suzy is only pretty," claiming it was the way the filming was: "It came out like that only because they filmed it weird."

Netflix delivered first-look posters and a teaser trailer for Genie Make a Wish ahead of the fan push.
The premiere is slated for later this year.
