Young actor Yeo Jin Goo has been offered the role that Jo In Sung waited two years for. The 16-year-old actor has been offered the leading role in the science fiction thriller "Kwon Bob," a role that 32-year-old Jo In Sung once planned to make his comeback role.
When Jo In Sung finished his military duty in 2011, he wanted to star in the film but financing problems delayed production for two years before he decided to opt out.
While he was waiting for the film to be financed Jo In Sung rejected several film and drama offers, choosing to appear only in commercials. But eventually he could wait no longer and took the role of Oh Soo in the melodrama "That Winter The Wind Blows" with co-star Song Hye Kyo.
He still hoped to star in "Kwon Bob" but eventually turned down the role.
Now it seems as if Yeo Jin Goo has received an offer. The science fiction thriller takes place in the future and the leading role is a man who fights to protect his village. There is no word as to how the film role will be altered to accommodate the 16-year age difference between the actors.
According to CJ Entertainment, Yeo Jin Goo's agency, the actor is still discussing his appearance in the film.
"Nothing has been decided," said the CJ representative. "Since discussions are still in the pre-contract stage, it is a very sensitive topic at the moment."
Yeo Jin Goo acted as the young Kim Soo Hyun in "The Moon Embracing The Sun" and the young Park Yoochun in "Missing You." He played one of his first adult roles as Hong Hye Sung in the drama "Potato Star 2013QR3." His first leading film role in "Hwayi: A Monster Boy" earned him a Best New Actor award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
"Kwon Bob" also attracted attention because it is an international collaboration, with Chinese production companies providing up to 30 percent of the film's financing. Korea's CJ Group will manage the production.
Lee Yeon Hee, who stars as Oh Ji Young in "Miss Korea" and who appeared in "Gu Family Book" and "Phantom" is up for the female lead in "Kwon Bob."
Park Kwang Hyun, who worked on "Welcome To Dongmakgol," will direct "Kwon Bob."
Last summer it was announced that the film was ready to go into production, but there is no set date for filming to start.
