Diane Von Furstenberg quotes what would be another widely-followed fashion statement as she recently announced the launch of her new jewelry line, said a report from Fashion Times. The designer is returning after a 30-year hiatus to launch a jewelry business, saying, "I really love jewelry that makes noise and makes a statement".
According to the report, the collection will consist of a variety of necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. All items were created in collaboration with Haskell Jewels, through the leadership of Haskell chairman and CEO Frank Fialkoff, whom the designer partnered with back in the early 1980s to license all her jewelry in major department stores.
"We were in business together 30 years ago, and now we're back," Diane Von Furstenberg quotes in a WWD report.
Aside from fine jewelry, the new collection will also include affordable pieces. Some will be priced between $68 and $628, which is a lot affordable than pieces from Diane Von Furstenberg's high-end collection, with some costing as much as $100,000.
"I still am doing fine jewelry, but people ask me for costume jewelry. They want to have the $300 necklace," Diane Von Furstenberg quotes.
"I really love jewelry that makes noise and makes a statement. I also like fluidity in jewelry. It's all treated like fabric," the designer says.
According to a report from Refinery 29, Diane Von Furstenberg also says, "People see me with a lot of jewelry, and I need to be able to make jewelry that people can afford that doesn't compromise on the quality and design."
The new Diane Von Furstenberg collection is scheduled to be launched on February in selected Von Furstenberg boutiques and retail locations.
The designer's distribution partner, Haskell Fialkoff, also shares to WWD: "The key to this line is that Diane touched every piece of it. 'I like it, I don't like it, I want it, make it blue, make it green.' And that's what makes it work."
"From a real designer point of view, Diane, I feel, is one of the leading designers of today. We're hoping to get all of the stores that she's currently doing business with," Haskell Fialkoff says.
