It sure looks like a lot has changed with Chris Pratt based on several before and after photos circulating on the net. But what other people don't know is that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star had a quite difficult time getting by in the past.
The 35-year-old actor recently posted a major throwback photo on his Facebook account showing a younger self beside his humble abode- a van.
The van which had a noticeable Scooby-Doo design painted on it used to be his home when he moved to Hawaii after dropping out of just one semester of college.
"Can't believe I found this picture!!!" he said in the photo caption. "That is the van I lived in!!! In my hand is the script for the movie that got me out of Maui. Crazy."
In an interview with The Independent, Chris recalled his life back in Hawaii saying:
"It's a pretty awesome place to be homeless," he said.
"It would be different if I lived on the streets of Chicago and ate garbage from a dumpster. We just drank and smoked weed and worked minimal hours, 15-20 hours per week, just enough to cover gas, food and fishing supplies. You know, it was charming time."
Working as a waiter at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Maui was the future Star-Lord's only source of income, but it was also a stepping stone for him in getting a career in acting he would now love.
Chris shared that he once waited on "Commando" star Rae Dawn Chong. Realizing who she was, he began talking to her about his innate acting capabilities. The meeting proved to be fruitful as Chris walked out of Bubba Gump that day with an offer to star in Chong's movie "Cursed Part 3."
"Originally the dream was to pay my bills doing nothing other than acting," Pratt told The Independent.
"I got there, but the dream is constantly evolving. Then my dream was to do roles that are more than just the bad guy, or the douche. Then it was to do sidekick roles then comedy. Now it's like I've crossed over this line where I actually say no to stuff. I could never have fathomed that."
