The "Annabelle" doll movie is a confirmed prequel to 2013's "The Conjuring," to release this October 3.

Fans who can't get enough of the goose bumps from 2013's "The Conjuring" have a prequel to watch out for; the "Annabelle" doll movie is set to release just a few weeks before Halloween.

"The Conjuring's" story revolved around the haunted doll Annabelle, which allegedly torments people it comes into contact with. Annabelle is based on a real doll currently in the possession of Lorraine Warren, played by Vera Farmiga in the movie.

The real Annabelle is stored in a glass case in the Warren Occult Museum in Moodus, Connecticut. Some claim to have seen the doll move, also heard a low growl coming from within the glass case.

"The Conjuring" was an unexpected hit at the box office, and fans expected a sequel of sorts to follow through. The "Annabelle" doll movie is actually a prequel, explaining the origins of the doll and how it was possessed

"Annabelle" is about John and Mia form, a couple expecting their first child. John brings the doll into the family as a gift to his wife. The couple's home is invaded by a group of occultists, though, and the evil entity they summoned possessed the doll. John and Mia bear the burden of destroying the evil in Annabelle, pulling priests and paranormal experts into the fold (hallels.com).

It's almost expected the movie will come out with merchandise, and true enough, Mezco Toys recently announced it'll release Annabelle dolls on toy store shelves, with exact semblance to the haunted doll in the movie.

Mezco Toys has released similar merchandise in the past, like the "Chucky" and "Living Dead" dolls. The toy is likely launched in time for the "Annabelle" doll movie's release, but it's safe to assume it won't be part of children's wish lists for the holidays (yahoo.com).
