In the latest LA Lakers news, the team apparently signed five-year veteran Wayne Ellington, a move seen as a roster-filler more than anything else. The team also invited four other journeymen to training camp.

The Yahoo Sports revealed this latest LA Lakers news as it said that the team announced the deal last Monday. The 6-4 guard has had stints in Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 6.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists over his career.

"The North Carolina product averaged career-bests in shooting percentage (.437) and 3-point percentage (.424) for the Mavericks last year, appearing in the playoffs for the first time," Yahoo Sports said.

Meanwhile, according to the LA Lakers news by ESPN, four more players were added to the training camp roster: Jabari Brown, Keith Appling, Roscoe Smith and Jeremy Tyler.

Jabari Brown, who was a teammate of Lakers drafted rookie Jordan Clarkson in Missouri, had a good college outing averaging 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists. However, questions about his defense and athleticism hurt his chances.

Keith Appling was undrafted although he averaged a modest 10.6 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds at Michigan State.

Roscoe Smith was also invited to the Lakers Summer League last season and the Lakers blog SilverScreenAndRoll had good things to say about the forward's hustle and rebounding skills.

Jeremy Tyler, meanwhile, played with the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, averaging just 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in just under 10 minutes per game.

But the SilverScreenAndRoll added more LA Lakers news saying that the glut at the forward spot, with Carlos Boozer, Ryan Kelly and Jeremy Randle, it's unlikely that Jeremy Tyler or Roscoe Smith will land a place at the final roster.

The latest signings now bring the roster to 18, which is still two shy of the minimum of 20 that the team is allowed for training camp.
