Idris Elba Would Take The Role Of James Bond Despite Rush Limbaugh’s ‘Racist’ Comment

In the midst of the Sony hack, emails were reportedly leaked between Sony executives eyeing Idris Elba as the next James Bond, according to E! News.

There is one person who is very much against the idea of Idris Elba taking on the role of James Bond and his name is Rush Limbaugh.

During his news program, Rush Limbaugh reportedly decided to comment on the possible casting decision.

“James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is,” stated Limbaugh.

He added, “But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland. But that’s not who James Bond is.”

The news host didn’t stop there.

“I know it’s racist to probably point this out,” added Limbaugh.

Limbaugh’s “racist” comments will hopefully make no difference in the possible casting of Idris Elba as James Bond. When asked if the 42-year-old actor would take the role during a Reddit AMA, Elba stated, “Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely,” according to Ecumenical News.

Despite the fact that he would take the role, Elba has previously opened up about his concerns over how he’d be seen by moviegoers and Bond fans.

“I just don’t want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I’m saying? Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn’t the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don’t want to be called the black James Bond,” explained Elba.
