The "Now You See Me 2" actor Daniel Radcliffe has been talking with his native English accent all his life. After starring as Harry Potter in the eight-film Warner Brothers franchise, people grew accustomed to hearing the 25-year-old actor in his natural voice.
However, as part of his decision to work on more diverse roles, he started practicing on a Canadian twang for "What If," the romantic comedy that he starred in with Zoe Kazan.
He diligently studied his role - accent and all - but a few days before starting to film, producers met up with him and told him to lose the fake twang.
"It was basically, 'You're not marketable without your English accent,' which is bad news for all the other stuff I've done with American accents," he told Express during an interview.
"It was one of those ridiculous last-minute panics on their behalf, but I certainly wasn't going to go, 'Well, scr*w you guys, I'm going to put 200 people out of work for the sake of an accent.'"
Despite the setback, the "Now You See Me 2" actor Daniel Radcliffe accepted the producers' request and proceeded to shoot the film in his original accent.
He did get to utilize what he practiced in playing Ig - a guy accused of murdering his long-term girlfriend - in the dark thriller, "Horns."
The "Woman In Black" star already has millions to his name, which is more than enough to set him for an early retirement. However, he admitted in past interviews that he likes working, in films particularly, having grown up on the set of the "Potter" franchise.
Express also believes that he is humble enough to accept criticism from producers and directors despite already starring in a wildly popular movie series.
