Joan Rivers' death is allegedly not due to the neglect of Yorkville Endoscopy's anesthesiologist, who slammed allegations of medical malpractice during the "Fashion Police" host's botched operation.
According to a report from Page Six, the medical facility's anesthesiologist, Dr. Renuka Bankulla, was quick to respond to the recent filing of Melissa Rivers' multi-million dollar lawsuit.
Even though she had around a month to respond to allegations related to Joan Rivers' death, it only took the anesthesiologist three days to respond to the 44-page court document filed by the heir of Joan Rivers' hefty estate.
The board-certified anesthesiologist explained how she supposedly did all that she could to prevent Joan Rivers from passing out during the throat procedure that led her coma. The TV icon was 81 years old when she passed away last Sept. 4, 2014, just a week after the routine operation that turned fatal.
In lawsuit papers filed by Joan Rivers' only daughter, Dr. Renuka Bankulla was accused of "failing to demand or request for a crash cart" when her mother's vital signs went down. She and the Yorkville Endoscopy team allegedly did not respond with enough urgency when the comedienne's heart rate plummeted and oxygen level dropped below 90 percent.
However, the now infamous anesthesiologist explained that a crash cart was available in the operating room.
The specialist also clarified other accusations thrown by the 46-year-old "Fashion Police" executive producer.
One detail that puts Dr. Renuka Bankulla directly responsible for Joan Rivers' death was how she allegedly could have administered succinylcholine, a muscle relaxant that loosens seized vocal cords.
"The laryngospasm had already broken, and Joan Rivers was being adequately oxygenated with mask ventilation," Dr. Renuka Bankulla explained during last Thursday's Manhattan Supreme Court filing.
While she contradicted certain details, Yorkville Endoscopy's anesthesiologist did point out a previously narrated detail about celebrity ear, nose, and throat specialist Gwen Korovin. The ENT specialist allegedly rushed to leave the operating room as soon as Joan Rivers' vital signs dropped. The said incident allegedly played a big part in Joan Rivers' death.
