Michael Schumacher was reportedly put in a medically induced coma until June of 2014 after a skiing accident with his family in December 2013 at the French resort of Meribel where he suffered a fall, according to The Christian Post.
Although he’s been away from the race tracks for over a year now, the Formula One Champion continues to garner the support of fans internationally.
A Michael Schumacher Career Tribute video was released on BBC in 2013, commemorating the seven time Formula One champion’s victories.
Fans of Michael Schumacher have continued to stay updated on his health condition as well.
“Best in the world,” wrote YouTube user artan adel.
Sebastian Vettel, a fellow Formula One racing driver, has shown support for Michael Schumacher as reports of his slowly recovering health condition continue to surface.
“Michael Schumacher will always be an inspiration for myself,” stated Vettel.
Schumacher has been described as “The Greatest There Is, The Greatest There Was, The Greatest There Ever Will Be.”
Since getting out of his coma, Michael Schumacher has reportedly been sitting “in a chair in front of the windows of his villa” during his breaks from physical therapy sessions. Schumacher has reportedly been responsive to external stimuli, including visits from his family.
“In recent times, he has been able to recognize the familiar faces of his family, but he cannot communicate with them. He does not speak and he is not able to perform movements independently. He reacts to external stimuli but for now can only answer a familiar voice by moving his eyes,” Alberto Sabbatini, the editor-in-chief of Italian magazine Autosprint.
He added, “Sometimes a tear rolls down Michael’s face. He cries when he hears the voice of his children or Corinna.”
