Doug Stamper's position in the House of the Underwood has been fluctuating since season 2, but both Frank Underwood and his ruthless chief of staff are made of each other and even they recognize that fact, said the spoilers for the third season of "House of Cards."
In an interview with E! News, Michael Kelly said that there's no choice for Frank Underwood but to take him back even as he was shown approaching Heather Dunbar to help her win the caucus.
"I think he knew the whole time if he could just do what he had to do, Frank would have to take him back. He's watching Frank fall as he's recovering and he knows if he just does the right thing, if he can get himself back, that Frank will have no choice but to take him back," he teased "House of Cards" season 3 spoilers.
"At least that's the way that he's thinking. The Dunbar thing, from the very first second, he was never going to work for Dunbar. It was always exactly what he told Francis, 'I'm just trying to find the silver bullet, I'm trying to find the one thing that was going to put her away and basically prove to you that I'm ready to be back at work. Look what I did.'" He said.
In its "House of Cards" season 3 spoilers, Decider said the show will placed equal importance on the story of Doug Stamper than it is about Frank Underwood.
"In thirteen episodes, we see a man come full circle and decide, after everything he's experienced, that the only place he wants to be is by Underwood's side," the article said.
"But Doug is no longer nobody; he's invaluable to Underwood's presidency, something that both Frank and Doug acknowledge for the first time as they're finally seeing eye-to-eye in the same playing field, ready to take this next step as a team."
