According to Product Review.net, Atlus will likely announce new details and the launch date for "Persona 5" at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 16-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Crossmaps previously claimed that Atlus will release "Persona 5" in Spring 2015 for the PS3 and PS4 consoles.
Aside from the release date announcement, Atlus has also provided new game details for "Persona 5" as they talk about "Persona 5's" story and its new gameplay mechanics in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Gematsu reports.
According to Famitsu, "Persona 5's" will take place somewhere in Shibuya, and it will feature elements and feelings of the big city life, such packed train platforms full of commuters, busy streets and an exciting night life.
Gematsu further adds that the Protagonist has gained his persona Arsene after "a certain incident unfolds and confronts a great darkness enveloping the city". He attends a private school called Shujin Academy along with his new friends; Ryuuji Sakamoto and Anzu Takamaki, and will meet a talking cat named Morgan along the way.
Gematsu described the Protagonist as a "Phantom character", and he is different from the previous heroes in the Persona series.
"The previous heroes are going after villains, pursuing bad guys for the sake of justice however in 'Persona 5,' protagonists are on the run for doing what they think is right after something happens completely pout of the blue. That mixture of thrills and not-so-larger-than-life cast of characters is what composes the idea of 'academy juveniles' for us," Venture Capital Post reports.
Gematsu also explained that importance of the "Awakening", and it was theorized that a character's awakening engulfs them in blue flames similar to Protagonist in first trailer. It allows them to reveal another side of him/herself which is greatly different from his/her public demeanor. The blue flames are believed to turn into the masks that the characters wear in the game.
A new social link called "Cooperation" will act as a buddy system in the game, and "Sneak" allows players to utilize stealth in certain situations. Other returning features in the game includes "Lesson" and "All-Out-Attack".
"Persona 5" director Katsura Hashino previously shared his goals in making the game during an interview with Venture Capital Post.
"One of the goals in making 'Persona 5', then, is to give those people an outlet to explore those thrills and experience that sense of freedom that the protagonists themselves have within the context of a game. Although that being said, I won't deny that a lot of us were also just way into stories about good-natured thieves like Lupin III growing up, too," Hashino said.
