Having a cast that includes Gong Hyo Jin, Kim Soo Hyun, IU and Cha Tae Hyun is already a pretty sweet deal, but there are going to be plenty of cameo appearances in to make episodes of "The Producers" even sweeter.
The latest artist to confirm a cameo appearance is Jang Hyuk, last seen in "Shine or Go Crazy" and "Fated To Love You." His part has already been filmed but no details have been provided as to what it might be. As "The Producers" is a show about making a variety show, he will likely play a variety show guest.
Most of the cameos will probably be guests on the variety shows.
Musician and record producer Park Jin Young and Girls Generation's sub-unit TTS will likely appear on the variety show. The same is true for 2PM's Nickhun and 2AM's Jo Kwon.
The drama's first episodes feature a segment of the real variety show "2 Days & 1 Night." Those segments will include appearances by veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung, last seen in the drama "Wonderful Days," Hwang Shin Hye, who appeared in "Passionate Love," Geum Bo Ra, who was in "Jang Bo Ri Is Here" and Hyun Yong, whose last k-drama role was in "Baby Faced Beauty."
Also likely to be variety show guests are actress Lee Young Ja, former Wonder Girls member and singer Sunmi and Yoo Hee Yeol of "You Hee Yeol's Sketchbook."
But some cameo roles may be longer than others. Originally Kim Jong Kook of "Running Man" was only going to supply a brief cameo appearance, due in part to his longtime friendship with one of the drama's stars Cha Tae Hyun. But that appearance has since turned into a small role, his debut role in a drama.
Actress Jo Yoon Hee will play director Shin Hye Joo, who is the first love of Kim Soo Hyun's character.
"The Producers" focuses on the hectic daily lives of producer-directors as they plan and create variety shows, which will include dealing with the unpredictable personalities of their guests. Gong Hyo Jin plays the tough talking senior producer Tak Ye Jin. Kim Soo Hyun plays a rookie producer Baek Sung Chan. Cha Tae Hyun plays Ra Joon Mo, another producer, and IU plays the icy k-pop singer Cindy.
The first episode airs on May 15.
