Filled with prominent and young stars in the entertainment industry, the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards officially took off on May 7 at the COEX Hall D in Gangnam gu.

The ceremony was attended by plenty of the big names in the business, and shone bright with their glamorous looks.

Interestingly, among the most-awaited celebrities to appear was "Vincenzo" actor Song Joong Ki.

Looking stunning with his black tuxedo, combined with a black bowtie, the actor made a captivating entrance.

As he walked on the red carpet, he greeted the reporters and even did some poses, while facing the cameras that flashed on his face.

However, Song Joong Ki's appearance on the red carpet surprisingly sparked controversy.

While in front of the press, the K-drama actor made a heart gesture on his cheek, looking cute. The "Descendants of the Sun" actor probably did not expect that his gesture would spark debates afterward.

To recall, Song Joong Ki had refused to make heart signs at events and public gatherings, as he considered it dull. He revealed during his media conference for his series "Reborn Rich" that he thought doing such heart gestures were "boring."

"It's not that my personality has changed. I didn't do the heart pose because I thought doing typical gestures was boring. If my attitude seemed reflected negatively, then it's my fault. I didn't do it because it seemed dull, not because I didn't want to do it."

Therefore, the veteran actor's gesture at the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards contradicted his previous statement, stirring controversy among netizens.

Seeing him do the heart cheek pose, netizens wondered if the actor changed his mind because of the backlash he received.

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the movie "Hopeless."

He also made a cameo in the record-breaking K-drama "Queen of Tears." In the Kim Soo Hyun-led drama, he relieved took on his iconic character Vincenzo Cassano and became the divorce lawyer of Kim Ji Won's character.

As of this writing, Song Joong Ki has no confirmed projects yet.
