Former PRISTIN Nayoung Talks About Her Debut As An Actress

Stylized as PRISTIN and formerly known as Pledis Girlz, former member Nayoung is now making her debut as an actress the thriller drama "Flower of Evil."

PRISTIN was a South Korean girl group by Pledis Entertainment in 2016. The group was composed of ten members. The group did not last that long when only three members renewed their contract with Pledis Entertainment.
Nayoung and Kyulkyung are the only two girls form the group to have become part of the final line-up for the project girl group I.O.I, and had its debut on May 4 with the single "Dream Girls."

The idol turned-actress recently had a pictorial for Harper's Bazaar magazine, and she even shared her thoughts in her interview regarding her debut as an actress. Nayoung's fame as a singer rose when she became part of the I.O.I and PRISTIN group and she are now trying her skill as an actress. Aside from her current project as the Lee Joon Gi's sister, she is also filming for her upcoming web drama "Romantic Hacker" as the female lead alongside Kwon Hyun Bin or popularly known as Viini.

The web drama "Romantic Hacker" circles around the who get involved in the "Jeju International Stock Exchange," which is based on the concept of blockchain cryptocurrency. This will be an action mixed with comedy type of web drama. In the interview, Nayoung explained how she became interested in the idea of being an actress. She went on and said that it was because she majored in TV and entertainment when she was in college, where she learned how to use a camera, write screenplays, and edit videos.

"Just like how I dream of becoming a singer, there are so many people who dream of becoming an actor,' and those experiences made me have an interest in acting," she said. The actress continues to share that she was enjoying the experience of trying new things and taking new challenges in doing scenes for her acting. She even recalled that she had to act like she was drunk, and the scene turned out to be hilarious, and she felt like she was letting loose and releasing all the things that were repressed within her.

Back when she was active in her idol days, she was once known for her stoic and unchanging facial expression, her style of singing that was recognized by many. Now, she happily mentioned that she was also undergoing a much-needed transformation for that matter. Her friends even noticed a change from her usual facial expression and would joke that it was something new; there was a significant change in the way she reacts to things, and the actress feels like she has been expanding her arrays of facial expressions.

When you are a singer, you need not have several facial expressions; however, as an actress you need several acting workshops to master various expressions. And it takes a lot of hard work to look great even if you are angry and especially when you are crying. Being an actress requires mastery with your facial look, and the tone of your voice goes hand in hand with the emotion that you want to portray. She ended the interview proudly saying, "I think I'm going through positive changes as a result of my acting."
