Squid Game 2 Grandpa Oh Young Soo Appeals Sexual Assault Sentence, Claims "Unfair Judgement"
Actor Oh Young Soo is currently appealing his conviction for sexual assault by arguing that the punishment imposed on him is "disproportionately severe."
The appeal occurred on August 29th, 2024, at the Suwon District Court, where his lawyers contended that the actor had already experienced social consequences, including being dropped from multiple film endeavors.
He gained fame from his role in the Netflix show Squid Game but faced legal trouble this year for events that occurred in 2017.

Accusations were made against him for hugging a woman while out walking and later kissing her on the cheek when they reached her home.
As a result of the court decision, he received an eight-month suspension prison sentence with two years of probation in his case.
He was also ordered to attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment sessions.
Oh's lawyers contended that the penalty was "overly harsh" by highlighting the actor's ranging professional and personal setbacks-- such as being removed from finished movies and missing out on several acting opportunities. The prosecution, however, has pushed back against this view by deeming the sentence "too lenient."
The situation has attracted much interest due to Oh's career background.
In 2022, he was the first Korean actor to receive a Golden Globe Award for his role in Squid Game, earning him the endearing nickname "Grandpa Gganbu."
Nevertheless, since being found guilty, Oh has encountered criticism, which resulted in his prohibition from featuring on KBS and his removal from the cast of Big Family.
The upcoming court session for Oh's appeal is set for October 29th, 2024.
