‘The Last: Naruto The Movie:’ Sukima Switch Sings Theme Song, Japanese Male Duo Voice-Acts Ninja Characters?

The Last: Naruto The Movie's theme song will be sung by Japanese male duo Sukima Switch. The theme song, "Hoshi no Utsuwa" translated as "Star Vessel," will go on sale on December 3 according to Anime News Network. Reportedly, the song is a "magnificent medium-tempo number about friendship and the bonds between people." Aside from singing, the pair, Takuya Ōhashi and Shintarō Tokita, who formed Sukima Switch in 1999 will also do the voice-acting of the ninja characters. They recorded their dialogue on October 15.

The Last: Naruto The Movie is reportedly part of the larger "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project" which marks Naruto's 15^th anniversary. The film which is directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi is said to be the first after it has launched the ninth film, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie which opened in Japan in July 2012 and became the highest grossing film in the franchise. A new Naruto film has debuted in Japan every year between 2004 and 2012.

According to the website, Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto manga franchise head and creator, is credited with the original story; character designs, and is the chief story supervisor of the film. Reportedly, he is also creating the sketches for the characters.  

The Last: Naruto the Movie wiki confirmed the list of annonced characters who will be seen in the upcoming film. They are Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Kakashi Hatake, Sai, Shikamura Nara, Choji Akimichi, Gaara, Temari, Tenten, Rock Lee, Hinata Hyuga, Ino Yamanaka, Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, and Hanabi Hyuga.

Anime News Network noted that Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is unveiling a new character: a "mysterious" man who will join the list. The magazine teases that this "handsome young man with a well-proportioned face" is linked to the original manga.

The Last: Naruto the Movie premieres in Japan on December 6, 2014.
