With the release date for "Halo 5 Guardians" looming, the designers are scrambling to address the issue for those who already pre-ordered the game before Sept. 21. Meanwhile, the developer has clarified the earlier report that there's a plan to bring the game to PCs.

In the letter addressed to gamers published on Haloway Point, it warned that those who digitally downloaded the game prior to Sept. 21 and "are NOT using Instant On power mode" will have some issues playing the game as they will get an incorrect "stub file" for the title.

"Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title," it added.

The letter also gave the procedure how gamers can check if they have the incorrect stub file.

First, they should go to "My games & apps" then browse through the game collection by selecting "Installed à Sort by size."

If they see that their "Halo 5: Guardians" game size less than 40 GB, then they have the incorrect stub file and should reinstall the game.

Those who ordered on and after Sept. 21 prior to the "Halo 5: Guardians" release date should need not worry as they are not expected to face some problems.

Meanwhile, the developers got themselves in a bit of a bind when they were misunderstood regarding the game coming to PC

Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor was asked on GameRadar whether or not "Halo" would come to PC and he said, per The Verge, "There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point, but it's absolutely not out of the bounds of reason."

"We developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff," he said.

Considering the fan reactions, O'Connor had to take to his Twitter to clarify his statement.

"I didn't 'mention' it, I was asked a question and gave the same noncommittal answer I've been giving to that question for ten years," he wrote.

"Halo 5 Guardians" release date is set for Oct. 27, 2015.
