InFocus introduced the Kangaroo mobile PC, a Windows 10 portable personal computer that "goes anywhere and works with any screen."
It is a mobile desktop likened to a PC shrunk down to the size of a phablet. Like the desktop, it needs a keyboard, a monitor and a mouse. It is now available on Newegg at $99 and next month, on Microsoft Store.
InFocus calls the Kangaroo mobile PC "a no-compromise PC at a no-pain price that makes Windows 10 accessible to anyone." It weighs 200 grams and measures 124m tall, 12.9mm thick and 80.5mm wide, said BGR. The Kangaroo has no widely used generic name yet as it is the first of its kind.
The InFocus Kangaroo mobile PC is the power of an affordable computer that is as mobile as a smartphone. It comes in black satin aluminum, has a 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. It is powered by Intel Cherrytrail Z8500 chipset, and includes a battery that gives it four hours power of "casual use."
Its standalone Kangaroo Dock includes two USB ports, an HDMI port and can be swapped out for other future docks. This computer comes with Windows 10 Home.
Venture Beat said it is incredibly light and small considering its functionalities. Using the Kangaroo does not require any setup. One can plug it in the HDMI cable to a TV, and its power cable to the wall outlet.
With Windows Hello, the fingerprint reader of the Kangaroo on its side allows login without any password. For the first time of use, it only takes a few taps, and in saving fingerprint so the next time the user accesses the computer, he does not need to type anything.
The InFocus Kangaroo mobile PC has a built-in Wi-Fi that could work well, but when it is away from the source, it can slow down as its Wi-Fi chip is not as powerful as those found in expensive laptops, which is not surprising, said Venture Beat.
