Nina Dobrev is reportedly showing her ex-boyfriend and former "The Vampire Diaries" co-star, Ian Somerhalder, that her career can survive even after her stint in the teen series.

The Elena Gilbert actress has reportedly scored a new role months after her departure from "The Vampire Diaries."

"Nina is set to star in 'Arrivals' with Maisie Williams from 'Game of Thrones' due out in 2016," Celeb Dirty Laundry reported. "The film, about a girl who enlists the help of a hypochondriac baggage handler to help her carry out her bucket list, is currently in pre-production.

"In addition to nabbing the role of Izzy in the Peter Hutchings project, Dobrev is said to be the hot choice for the role of Allie on CW's revamp of 'The Notebook.' That means Nina is going to have very little time to return to the role of Elena," the report added.

There have been previous rumors that Nina Dobrev has purportedly done everything in her power to look for showbiz projects except one.

However, Nina has allegedly a promise to herself that she will never return to "The Vampire Diaries" where she would have to work with Ian Somerhalder, and possibly deal with his wife, Nikki Reed.

It has been rumored in the past that Nikki Reed is allegedly jealous of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder.

Some speculate that Nikki Reed prevented her husband from going to Teen Choice Awards this year because she doesn't want him to run into his ex.

However, it doesn't seem like Nikki Reed has a reason to be jealous, as Nina Dobrev is purportedly determined to find projects for movies and TV shows that wouldn't involve her ex-boyfriend.

A previous report claimed that Nina is already targeting a particular TV series to star in.

"One of the people who would love to get her hands on a role in 'True Detective' for season three is Nina Dobrev," a source told Hollywood Life previously.
