Following the divorce, Ryan Sweeting is reportedly hitting Kaley Cuoco where it hurts-in her pockets.
According to Life & Style, Ryan Sweeting filed spousal support from "The Big Bang Theory" actress as part of the divorce settlement.
"The 28-year-old athlete filed the request on Oct. 15, three weeks after Kaley submitted divorce docs to the court," it said.
But the couple signed a prenup in November 2013, just a month prior to their wedding. That should have dispensed with all the trouble surrounding the division of assets in case of divorce. Of course, the agreement is meant to protect Kaley Cuoco, whose net worth reportedly shot up to $45 million after signing a huge contract with "The Big Bang Theory."
Hollywood Take claimed that despite the prenup, the court may grant Ryan Sweeting's plea for spousal support because of his injury.
When Kaley Cuoco filed her divorce papers, "The Big Bang Theory" star claimed "that spousal support was payable based on the prenup the estranged couple signed a month before their wedding."
"But in new documents filed last week, Sweeting asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to Cuoco," the article added. "And Sweeting wants Cuoco to pay his legal fees, even though the prenup calls for each star to pay for his or her own attorney."
Various reports claimed that Ryan Sweeting, whose net worth is about $2 million, was hooked to painkillers, which he took as part of the recovery for his injury, and it put a huge strain on their marriage.
"She supported him, but she said he couldn't make the commitment to get sober. He'd tell her he was working on it, and instead go get wasted," the source told Us Weekly.
The joint statement of the couple announcing their divorce read, "Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage. They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter."
