The release date for "Persona 5" has been delayed until next year but designer Katsura Hashino has promised that the wait would be worth it.

Although the game was initially scheduled for release this year, it was announced to be postponed up until 2016. The good news, however, is that production is continuing and a trailer for "Persona 5" was just launched during the Persona Super Live 2015 concert.

In an interview with Gematsu, director Katsura Hashino said they shared the trailer to show to the fans that they are working hard on the game.

"The main reason we went for that is to reassure people that production on this thing is still going forward, that it's doing just fine. I mean we went a long time without showing much of the game after we initially announced it, so it's only fair," he said.

Previously, IGN eported that the release date for "Persona 5" was delayed as announced during the Tokyo Game Show.

The article also published a statement from developer Atlus addressing the delay.

"The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae - elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly," the statement said.

"So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans."

As to fans waiting for the "Persona 5" release date, Katsura Hashino has this to say, "We've been very fortunate to have created a series of games where people feel so attached to each of the protagonists, so we hope that with Persona 5, we'll be able to make a game where the events of it really hit home and make for really impactful experiences."

"I know it's been a long wait, but I hope you'll give us just a little more time. Hopefully once it's out, it'll all be worth it in the end," the game's director added.
