They're just friends, says Woollim Entertainment of Infinite's L and Internet shopping mall CEO Kim Do Yeon. Just because they were seen together shopping for groceries and wearing what looked like couple clothing does not mean they are dating.
According to the agency, the Infinite vocalist and kdrama actor met Kim through mutual friends and became close, but not that close.
"They became friendly during Infinite's world tour but they aren't dating," said a Woollim representative.
Another agency representative said that because of Infinite's touring schedule it took the agency some time to sort out what was going on and to get a statement.
"The two are just friends who came to know one another through another friend. They only just met."
As to Kim Do Yeon mentioning L in a tweet, the representative said that she was merely expressing a fan's affection for the star.
"It doesn't seem like it means anything more than that," said the representative.
As to the fact that they were wearing what looked like couple clothes, the agency said it was just a coincidence.
"He wasn't aware of the fact that they wore matching clothes and it surprised him. He met Kim Do Yeon at a gathering with friends and he became close with her along with others."
As to the "thank you" to Do Yeon listed on the group's album, the agency is not sure it is the same Do Yeon.
Kim became known as the "chocolate girl" when she appeared on the tvN show "Martian Virus." She earned her appearance on the show, which focuses on people's strange habits, by saying that she only ate chocolate for six years. While this may seem as likely as the fact that she and L, also known as Kim Myung Soo, are barely friends, it did earn her some fame and media attention.
Infinite released their second album "Destiny" this summer and are kicking off a world tour. Meanwhile L can be seen on "The Master's Sun" where he plays the young So Ji Sub. His previous acting credits include playing the indie rocker turned idol Lee Hyun Soo in "Shut Up Flower Boy Band."
Whether or not the couple is "dating" may depend on your definition of dating. The desire for privacy on the part of kpop and kdrama celebrities means they often deny they are dating in the early stages of getting to know each other. Often celebrities will only confirm their relationship after they have been dating for a while or after paparazzi have taken incriminating photos.
