The release date for "Tekken 7" is not yet confirmed, although director Katsuhiro Harada has been quoted as saying that it's going to be in early parts of 2016. Meanwhile, Harada also teased that a new character will be introduced for the latest version.
In an interview with Korean gaming website Cyfren, as shared by
Avoiding the Puddle, Harada was asked when the "Tekken 7" release date will be.
He reportedly said that "a 'pre-launch' version of Tekken 7 is going to be available in arcades in February 2015. A more complete 'launch' version of the game will be available in March."
When he was asked if there's going to be new characters added, or past characters removed from "Tekken 7," he replied, "I don't want to use those words but for now, there's plans to add time release characters."
This coincided with Harada's reply to a Twitter question by a fan back in September who asked, "(Is) there any chance they'll be some guest characters or console exclusive fighters in TK7?"
"It's "if". Tell me your idea hehe," Harada answered.
According to Hardcore Gamer, in the latest installment, "Tekken" will return to its roots "with classic 1 vs 1 bouts and its canon storyline centered on the eternal struggle for power amongst the members of the Mishima clan."
"With newcomer Kazumi Mishima joining the fight, the epic battle between father and son, and also husband and wife, will come to its fated conclusion in Tekken 7," it added.
The "Tekken" franchise is one of the most popular games, raking in $45.6 million in sales.
The "Tekken 7" will reportedly support Playstation VR, the virtual reality headset from Sony, which should be good news for fans who can afford the device.
