Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, recently posted on the timeline of his Facebook page that he will be taking two months paternity leave after his daughter is born, according to The Telegraph. He called this decision a very personal one which was taken mainly due to his research studies and his emphasis on the need of work-life balance.

His post was welcomed by the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg. "Enjoy the precious early months with your daughter. I can't wait to meet her," said Sheryl, as quoted by The New York Times. Zuckerberg had announced in July this year that his wife Priscilla Chan, doctor by profession, was pregnant with a baby girl. He also revealed that Chan had suffered from three miscarriages earlier.

Mark said that he found out via various researches that when parents spend a lot of time with their newborns, it turns out into their good health and also lays the foundation of emotional connect. He also said that ,Facebook currently allow their US employees to avail up to four months of paid paternity and maternity leave anytime throughout the year. The company also provides its female employee, the facility of freezing their eggs.

The software company's counterparts use the concept of paternity leave with additional benefits to lure employees. While Microsoft offers up to 18 weeks of paid leave to expecting mothers, Netflix has gone a step forward with its one year scheme of leave for pregnant women. Amazon and Adobe provide up to 20 weeks paid maternity leave and six weeks paid paternity leave, reported The News Independent.

According to The Reuters, the paternity leave concept is just new born trend in the private sector with just 17 percent of companies contributing to it. United Kingdom recently levied new rules for the male employees where they will be provided with two weeks of compulsory paternity leave and 50 weeks of leave shared with their wife, which can be availed anytime between the time span of one year.

Mark's decision to go on leave is contrasting to choices of other technology companies CEO's. Recently, Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer announced that she would go on a limited period of leave after her twin girls are born and that she will be working throughout her pregnancy period.
