Sony is giving "No Man's Sky" the red carpet treatment although recent news reports still didn't say anything about the release date other than it's coming out in June 2016.
And while Hello Games is mulling a VR release, the developer is mum on the Mac and Xbox One versions of "No Man's Sky."
"It currently seems unlikely that an Xbox One version of the game will be released, and a Mac launch is similarly not guaranteed," noted Mac World. "If it does launch on Mac you can expect a significant delay after the PC launch - so late 2016 is a possibility but we may have to wait until 2017."
As to the VR release, Sean Murray told Edge magazine, per Games Radar, "I don't know what I'm allowed to say. It's something we're thinking about. Morpheus, Oculus... There's nothing more cool and sci-fi than VR and a big procedural universe."
He added, "I think that, for the people who want to just explore, and even for the space combat and things like that, it would be a good fit. Let's put it that way."
Unfortunately, Sean Murray is silent on the exact release date for "No Man's Sky."
Meanwhile, Fergar Gara, commercial director at Sony UK, said that they are treating the game "as if it was from one of our internal studios."
"We have been working very closely with the developers and bringing it into our release program as if we had made it," the executive said.
"We are not going to treat it any differently and we are going to put the full weight of PlayStation behind it. If it all comes together as well as expected, it will be treated like a first-party release; it is not a self-published small indie title on the platform."
Watch out for more news updates on the release date for "No Man's Sky" which will immediately be published when they become available.
