"Pirelli Calendar," subsidiary company of "Pirelli Tyre," has recently launched its 2016 version for the eye of the public, according to The Guardian.
Annie Leibovitz, portrait photographer has captured the mesmerizing images of woman celebrities and revealed her latest collection. The calendar is only for the top 20,000 elite people in the society, including V.I.P's, royalty, musicians and politician.
The new Pirelli calendar has featured a different theme this year, by selecting women celebrities for their achievements and not for their sexual appeal. The earlier versions of the calendar had women with superior vital statistics, posing in provocative and controversial postures.
But this year, the women chosen are less attractive but high on their achievements and passion for work. The featured personalities on the calendar like Amy Schumer, Serena Williams and Natalia Vodianova are barely dressed and look stunning.
Serena Williams, tennis star, has given a topless pose with her back to the camera for the month of April. She has been pictured in a soft runner's lunge, which depicts her strength. Amy Schumer, a comedian, posed just in her lingerie for December month. Natalia, Russian model and actress, posed for the month of January, with her legs outside her sexually attractive satin robe with her child in her hands, reported Fortune.
Agnes Gund, art collector and Mellody Hobson, investment banker, have featured for the months of March and June. Fran Lebowitz, American author, posed for the month of May. Yao Chen, Chinese ambassador featured for the month of September.
Yoko Ono, Japanese artist and singer and Ava DuVernay, Hollywood director can be seen on the pages of the month October and July. The producer of "Lincoln," Kathleen Kennedy has given a pose for the month of February. Patti Smith, American singer and Tavi Gevinson, actress are featured on the pages on November and August, reported The Guardian.
The chief officer of "McGarryBowen" advertising agency, Jennifer Zimmerman has termed the new version of calendar as a trendsetter and called it as the "Rise of Shero," which means a female hero.
"We are in the midst of a perfect storm of cultural icons and politics and Hollywood. Between the first credible woman presidential candidates, all the powerful female characters on television, it is impossible to ignore the empowerment of women," said Jennifer, reported The New York Times.
Marco Provera, CEO of Pirelli Tyres, expressed his views on the sudden diversion their yearly calendar. "Women who have done something outstanding in their lives, from every corner of the world. This represents what Pirelli thinks is beautiful," said Provera, as quoted by CNN.
The calendar was launched on Monday, November 30 in Grosvenor House on Park Lane, London.
