The SBS Drama Awards is an awards ceremony presented annually by the Seoul Broadcasting System. The awards have been presented for over 20 years and honor the best performances in dramas produced by the network.
This year there are quite a few excellent dramas to choose from. So, who will win the Grand Prize or Daesang at the awards ceremony on December 31?
Here are the dramas up for the awards
"Mask" was a melodrama about a tortured man whose delusions were induced by his power-scheming family. He marries a woman who has a secret but even after he learns that secret decides to protect her. The drama starred Joo Ji Hoon, Soo Ae, Yoo In Young, and Yun Jung Hoon.
"Punch" was the story of a prosecutor who often compromised the truth but decided to turn a new leaf when he learned he was going to die. The drama starred Kim Rae Won, Jo Jae Hyun and Kim Ah Joong.
"Heard It Through The Grapevine" was a dark comedy about a wealthy snobbish family whose son gets his poor girlfriend pregnant. It starred Yoo Joon Sang, Yoo Ho Jung, Lee Joon and Go Ah Sung.
"Yong Pal" was the story of an heiress in an induced coma and the often unethical doctor who becomes her knight in white armor. The drama starred popular actors Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee.
"I Have A Lover" may not have been a ratings hit but attracted attention because of the chemistry between actors Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo.
"High Society" offered romantic comedy in the story of mismatched lovers. Sung Joon was an ambitious manager from a poor background determined to marry up in the world. Uee was an heiress pretending to be poor so she could find true love. A second couple in the drama, played by Park Hyung Sik and Lim Ji Yeon were a fan favorite.
The webtoon turned drama "The Girl Who Sees Smells" starred Park Yoo Chun and Shin Se Kyung as one of the sweeter couples in kdramaland this year.
"Mrs. Cop" proved to be an effective drama vehicle for veteran actress Kim Hee Ae playing a female cop who must balance detective work with child care.
And finally "The Village - Achiara's Secret" tried something different, using thriller elements to highlight the tragic story of the after effects of rape. That drama starred Moon Geun Young and promising rookie actor Yook Sung Jae. Dark and moody, it was full of suspenseful plot twists.
Altogether the SBS judges have a lot of quality drama to choose from. Which drama do you think they will pick?
