Gong Hyo Jin: What Will She Do Next?

Now that "The Master's Sun" has finished, Gong Hyo Jin is getting lots of offers. She's not only being offered roles in dramas but she's also being courted for a variety of collaboration and endorsement deals.

Even though her character Tae Gong Sil was hardly a fashionista in "The Master's Sun," the actress is a fashion icon in Korea, having collaborated with two different shoe brands on a collection of designs. She also participated in designing a line of clothing for the fashion shop Los Angeles Project. The brand, known for its wild patterns and neon colors, can be found in the Shinsegae Department Store. So Gong Hyo Jin knew her way around fashionable stores long before her character began pursuing the mall owner played by So Ji Sub in "The Master's Sun."

Gong Hyo Jin is also being offered endorsement deals. While shooting "The Master's Sun," Gong also served as a model for "The North Face" and "Biotherm." And she just signed on to do commercials and ads for Samsung. They are not her first endorsement deals. In the past she has endorsed a wide range of products from Clinique cosmetics to Fuji Film to Popeye's Chicken.

Gong started her career as a model. Although she grew up in Australia, Gong began working in commercials as soon as she returned to Korea and modeled for over a year before being cast in a supporting role in the horror film Memento Mori. At first she was not serious about acting but the film was so successful, she stuck with it. She followed that film with her first drama comedy "My Funky Family."

The actress has had several successful dramas and is a favorite casting choice of the Hong Sisters who wrote "The Master's Sun." She appeared in "Happiness," "Sisters on the Road," "Pasta," "Crush and Blush," and "Boomerang Family."

Whether or not she signs on to endorse products or design fashions, she plans to act for as long as possible. After her role in "Pasta," she was quoted as saying that the best way to extend your acting career is to work hard at what you are offered instead of waiting for the next surefire success to come along.

"Acting isn't just about working on a good project and a good director," she said. "Projects that may have seemed slightly hopeless turn into good projects with good acting and I'd like to become an actress who can help the people who make that project. I'm trying to become an actress liked not only by people who watch my work but also those who make the dramas."

She has obviously captivated the Hong sisters and after "The Master's Sun" she once again captured the hearts of her audience.
