The International broadcasting company, BBC recently revealed that its Christmas Special episodes will consist of just four hours of religion based shows, according to The Huffington Post.
The list of episodes to air on BBC during the festive Christmas season has been reduced drastically as compared to the previous years. The Daily Mail reported that BBC is currently facing criticism for their lack of importance towards the most important aspect of Christmas that is religion.
The statistics reveal that this year's religious events comprise of just three percent in BBC's Christmas Special 2015 schedule.
Telegraph reported that the religious shows which have finally made it to the list of this year's BBC Christmas Special list are Midnight Mass, On Angels Wings, Carols From Kings, Songs of Praise and The Big Christmas Sing, out of which four episodes are repeated from last year.
In 2005, BBC aired almost eight hours of religious shows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day alone.
BBC faced criticism from the Christian Concern's chief Executive, Andrea Williams on their decision to just give four hours' time to the religious shows during the festive season.
"It will be tragic if the BBC buries all that out of some misplaced secular anxiety and denies people the chance to reflect on the Christmas message of hope and goodwill," said Andrea in an interview with The Sunday Express, reported Daily Mail.
BBC has responded back to this backlash with a very detailed response. A spokesperson from BBC recently revealed that the channel is willing to offer its worldwide audience a proper blend of religious shows as well as regular festive events.
Breit Bart reported that BBC will broadcast much-awaited and loved Midnight Mass and Christmas Day service live on its BBC One channel and Carols From Kings on BBC Two.
With television shows, BBC has also slated few radio events and shows to mark the festive season. Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols with Christmas Eve will be broadcasted on Radio 4. BBC Radio 3 will feature The Essay by Andrew Brown and the Good Morning Live show on Christmas Day will be aired on Radio 2.
