Katy Perry, who is said to be dating John Mayer, is busy expanding her brand to gaming. According to Touch Arcade, the "Fireworks" hitmaker is launching her own gaming app called "Katy Perry Pop."

"In KPP, you have to build your music career and develop your pop star persona," the article said. "You'll even be able to develop and record your own music and music videos to rise to the top of the charts."

That's not the same with "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," where the user is asked to "rule the red carpet" or to date and also to dump celebrities. The app proved to be so popular that Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner launched their own games.

Katy Perry's app is aiming for the same revenues as Kim Kardashian's, which is said to be around $200 million a year. However, reaching that number is unlikely considering that the figures for the "KUWTK" star's game are declining.

"At the end of the day," said Tech Crunch. "The Kardashian apps are a perfect example of how the hype cycle can impact an app's App Store success - but also, how hype doesn't necessarily translate into a sustainable and profitable business in the long term."

Unlike "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood," Katy Perry's app doesn't allow the user to play a dating game.

But although it offers a different experience, Touch Arcade noted that Katy Perry's app might have come out at the worst time, just when the novelty of playing a celebrity-based game has dwindled.

"I wonder if this is a sign that the celebrity game craze is drawing to a (relative) close, and I wonder what that might mean for KPP," Tasos Larazides wrote. "Still, if you like Katy Perry's music or are simply looking for another light and colorful F2P game to kill some time, Katy Perry Pop might be just the thing for you."

And no, John Mayer-who is reportedly dating the singer-doesn't make an appearance in Katy Perry's app.
