What do you think of a drama starring Jo Jung Suk and Gong Hyo Jin as the lead couple? This k-drama pairing is going to happen.
According to the Korean media outlet Naver TV, the stars are currently discussing their leading roles in the drama "Incarnation of Envy."
Both stars' agencies have confirmed that they are in the running for the leading roles in this romantic comedy.
Jo Jung Suk last appeared in "Oh My Ghostess," playing the arrogant chef Kang Sun Woo. He falls for his assistant who is possessed by a virgin ghost. In this drama Jo would play a handsome news anchor named Lee Hwa Shin. He's not just a pretty face but a smart and talented reporter. Jo previously played a reporter in the film "The Exclusive: Beat The Devil's Tattoo."
Gong Hyo Jin was last seen in "Producer," playing Tak Ye Jin, the tough producer of the Music Bank variety show. In "Incarnation of Envy," she is up for the role of weather forecaster Pyo Na Ri. Despite having what it takes to be a great news reporter, Pyo is stuck reporting on the weather because she's poor and has no connections. But she's a cheerful agreeable girl.
And Pyo Na Ri is eager to fall in love, which viewers can assume happens with Jo Jung Suk.
When Gong was interviewed by Naver TV in December she was asked which actor she wanted to co-star with next. She's worked with Cha Seung Won, Kim Soo Hyun, So Ji Sub and Jo In Sung to name a few handsome leading men. She named Yoo Ah In and Lee Kwang Soo as the actors she would most like to work with next. Jo Jung Suk was not on the list.
Given the title of this drama, viewers can assume that the relationship between Jo's character and Gong's character involves some jealousy. It's hard to imagine that a news anchor might be jealous of a weather forecaster. Perhaps Gong Hyo Jin's character is jealous of Jo Jung Suk's character.
Viewers will have to wait until the drama airs in July to find out.
Seo Sook Hyang, who wrote one of Gong's previous dramas "Pasta," will write the screenplay for "Incarnation of Envy."
