"Mrs. Cop," starring Kim Hee Ae, achieved double digit ratings during its run. So, SBS has decided on an encore. The network announced its decision to air "Mrs. Cop 2" on February 1 and is currently wrapping up casting.

In this second take on balancing police work and motherhood, Kim Hee Ae's character goes on a long, well-deserved vacation. And another woman will replace her.

Kim Sung Ryung, plays Go Yoon Jung, the woman who commands the squad while Choi Young Jin is gone. The new chief of the detective squad returned to Korea after studying with the FBI in the U.S. Veteran actress Kim Sung Ryung has a long resume of drama and film work.

Kim's most recent drama roles were in "The Heirs," playing Lee Min Ho's real mom, and in "The Queen's Flower," playing an ambitious woman who abandoned her child. She also recently appeared in the films "The Fatal Encounter" and "The Target."

Kim Hee Ae was asked if she wanted to do a second "Mrs. Cop" series, but like her character Choi Young Jin, she needed a break. Son Ho Joon and Lee Da Hee also turned down offers to appear in "Mrs. Cop 2."

Instead new actors have joined the drama. 2AM's Im Seulong is one of those actors. Im recently appeared in the MBC drama "Hotel King," played a lovestruck lawyer in the tvN drama "Ho Gu's Love" and was seen in the web drama "Love Cell 2." In "Mrs. Cop 2" Im will play Oh Seung Il, an idealistic detective who likes to follow the rules.

Son Dam Bi, who last appeared in "What Happens To My Family," will play Shin Yeo Ok, a small town police officer, who dreams of becoming a detective. Go Yoon Jung is the woman she most admires and wants to be like.

"Mrs. Cop 2" will focus on a cold case that frustrates Go Yoon Jung. She will solve the crime with the help of her squad.

"Mrs. Cop 2" is scheduled to follow "I Have A Lover" on March 5.

As most k-dramas do not extend past one season, this second season may signal a move on the network's part to experiment with a recurring series.
