The rumor that Big Bang's T.O.P. will star in the KBS drama "God of Noodles" is just that: a rumor. According to his agency, it is not likely.
The Korean media outlet Star recently reported that the singer-actor had been cast in the upcoming drama with actress Gong Seung Yeon. T.O.P. aka Choi Seung Hyun was reported to be playing the leading male character, a man who learns how to make the best noodles as a means to revenge.
However, the Korean media outlet Joy News quoted YG Entertainment's statement that Choi is currently busy with Big Bang's World Tour.
"God of Noodles" is due to air in April after the end of "The Merchant - Gaek Ju." The Big Bang World Tour will run into May with performances in Japan. As talented as Choi is, he probably can't be in two places at the same time. Probably.
But he is due to return to the small screen.
Choi Seung Hyun was recently seen in the web drama "Secret Message" with Japanese co-star Juri Ueno. Choi has not had a leading role in a full-length drama since he played a hitman in the 2009 spy drama "Iris." Between making music and touring with Big Bang, Choi has focused on his film career, appearing in the films "71: Into The Fire," "Iris: The Movie," "Commitment" and "Tazza: The Hidden Card."
Gong Seung Yeon is currently playing Min Da Kyung in "Six Flying Dragons." Gong has only appeared in four dramas so far. Her other dramas are "I Love LeeTae Ri," "Heard It Through The Grapevine" and "Call Me Baby." Her agency has yet to confirm her participation in "God of Noodles."
"God of Noodles" is based on a manhwa by Park In Kwon, whose previous manhwas "Yawang," "Daemul" and "War of Money" have been adapted into k-dramas.
