From socially inept genius doctor to style icon is quite a transformation but actor Joo Won is prepared to take on the challenge. He is considering playing the character Woo Gi Myung in the upcoming film "Fashion King." His character is a shy high school boy who has a crush on a girl, discovers fashion and in order to win his love's affections, dedicates himself to becoming a fashionable trendsetter.

Having seen Joo Won's transformation from a villain to a hero in the historical drama "Bridal Mask," fans know that the versatile actor can make the most extreme character transitions seem reasonable. And having seen the way he played the autistic doctor, Park Shi On, in his recent hit "Good Doctor" they also know he is capable of being convincing in a difficult role. With his boyish charm, the 26-year-old actor will probably even be believable as a high school student.

And he has had enough modeling experience in magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Arena Homme to show off the most stylish clothes to their best advantage.

He's always eager to take on new challenges.

"I learn a lot from each piece," he said when asked about his experiences filming the drama "Level 7 Civil Servant."

According to the drama's production team, "Fashion King" will resonate with audiences because the desire to look good is universal.

"Everyone follows fashion and dreams about looking their best," said the production company representative. "We hope to make a very entertaining movie that everyone can enjoy."

But even if Joo Won decides to take this role, before starting, he must finish up performances for the musical Ghost," which is a adaptation of the film "Ghost," starring Patriuck Swayze. Then he has to promote his role in the romantic comedy film "Catch Me," with co-star Kim Ah Joong. That film will premiere this December.

His agency, Sim Entertainment, says the actor will make the final decision on "Fashion King" this month or by early November.

The film is based on a popular webtoon of the same name.

Oh Gi Hwan will direct the film. He directed "The Art of Seduction," a romantic comedy which co-starred Son Ye Jin and Song Ik Gook. He also directed the Korean-Chinese romantic comedy "A Wedding Invitation," which has done well in China.

Cha Seung Jae, who produced "Memories of Murder," will produce "Fashion King."

The film is scheduled for release in April 2014.
