1.The Jerk Male Lead
Most K-drama writers believe that women always fall for the bad guys than nice guys. Maybe it is based on the "tsundere anime archetype". This is a character who is a jerk on the outside but caring on the inside. It is amazing to see an arrogant jerk learn from his mistakes, changes his attitude, and treats his girl with respect in the end. Do you think a girl deserves a boy who treats her badly? Everyone deserves a second chance and we hope he changes for the better. He will deal with his own issues and love his girl genuinely.
2.The Disapproving Parents
This is a very common trope. Your parents are the people who care for you the most and they claim to know what is best for you. Parental approval is hard to achieve when it comes to a romantic relationship. Some lead characters value their families more and they end up making stupid decisions to please their parents. Mothers can be really picky for their sons and they want a perfect woman to match their rich family. In the end, parents will have a change of heart and support the happiness of their children.
3.The Stalker Second Lead
There is a sweet second lead who refuses to give up after being rejected. It can be a childhood friend who gets possessive or a new acquaintance who has a superiority complex. This trope can turn second lead characters into trouble makers. One-sided love is now new to K-dramas. Psycho stalker second leads never succeed in making the lead character's life miserable. They end up getting hurt badly or worse.
4.The Destined Connection
Two people meet for the first time and eventually fall in love. Until one day they find out that they have a connection from the past. They may be long lost childhood friends or shared a traumatic experience somewhere in their past. Sometimes this trope shows up to build a little tension or to prove that their love story is very special. Somehow, this feels a forced romance. Two people can fall in love without any reason at all. It is the mutual feelings that develop as two people get to know each other.
5.The Fish Kiss
Fish Kiss is the moment when a male lead slowly tries to kiss the female lead. As they kiss, the female lead looks so stunned and frozen like a statue. This can be done to startle and make a woman stop talking. This is a man's way to show the feelings he cannot hide. This is an unexpected gesture that unlocks a romantic moment.
6.The Wrist Grab
Wrist grabs happen when a man cannot put into words the emotions he feels inside. This can go wrong and the woman can get injured if not done properly. A wrist grab can be interpreted as if my words cannot convince you, I have to assert physical dominance over you. The surprise touch can startle the woman and create a little silence. I prefer touches that show respect. A man should ask permission to a woman before he acts aggressively. Kindness is a trope that every one hope would stay forever.
