The famous actor Kang Ji Hwan received a suspended sentence of 2 years and 6 months from the Suwon District Court on December 5th for charges of quasi-rape and quasi-indecent acts by force. It means that the actor wouldn't have jail time as of the moment, but would rather be given probation for three years. However, if he commits the same crime within the time frame, he will be sent to prison immediately.
Additionally, Ji Hwan was also ordered to finish 40 hours of rape treatment counseling program, 120 hours of community service, and was given a restriction of working around minors and people with disabilities for three years.
Kang Ji Hwan was apprehended by the police at his Gwangju home last July. He was allegedly charged with sexual assault and rape. It was believed that the actor made these acts while the women were sleeping. Initially, Ji Hwan denied the charges but later admitted them. On July 15, he confirmed some details through his case hearing.
The actor's attorney asked the court for a lenient sentence since Ji Hwan has greatly shown remorse. The actor is currently being held in a detention center but is soon to be released.
