JTBC's new drama, Itaeweon Class, released its first teaser poster presenting Park Seo Joon as the drama's main character, Park Sae Roy. Doesn't the K-drama dream only get better and better every day?
The drama is based on a webtoon, with the same name as the said drama, published from December 27, 2016, to July 3, 2018, via Daum Webtoon Company. Webtoon readers, you better get ready! Your favorite webtoon is about to be a live-action! It said that the drama will be premiered this January 30, 2020, 10:50 p.m. KST.
The drama depicts a self v.s. society story wherein an entrepreneur, Park Sae-Ro-Yi, who is determined to chase his dreams, ultimately repels injustice and corruption. On December 13, 2019, the first teaser poster portrays Park-Sae-Ro-Yi standing on top of his restaurant smiling with a hopeful expression with a quote that says, Now in this place, I have a dream that I want to achieve.
In the webtoon, the story revolves around a boy named Park Sae-Ro-Yi (Park Seo Joon). He punches his classmate, Jang Geon-Won, who is bullying another classmate. The bully is the son of a wealthy man who is a CEO, Jang Dae-Hee. The father of the bully runs a restaurant called Jangga where Park Sae-Ro-Yi's father works. Jang Dae-Hee forces Park Sae-Ro-Yi to apologize to his son but when Park Sae-Ro-Yi refuses, Jang Dae-Hee gets Park Sae-Ro-Yi expelled from his school and fires his father.
Soon after, Park Sae-Ro-Yi's father gets into a motorcycle accident and dies which was a deliberate plan by Park-Sae Ro-Yi's old classmate, Jang Geon-Won. Because of this, Park-Sae-Ro-Yi beats the hell out of Jang Geon-Won and is sent to prison for violent assault. When Park Sae-Ro-Yi serves his prison time, he promises to avenge his father by destroying the Jangga Company, Jang Dae-Hee and Jang Geon-Won. After Park Sae-Ro-Yi serves his time in prison, he opens up a restaurant Itaeweon, Seoul where he hires a manager, Kim Da-Mi, who is popular in social media, and she eventually starts to have a feeling for Park Sae-Ro-Yi.
Park Seo Joon says that he feels a lot of pressure about playing a character who is loved by so many readers but seeing as it indicates that the character is charming, he sees it as a challenge to take on the role of Park Sae-Ro-Yi.
The producer of the drama also commented that viewers could anticipate Park Seo Joon's perfect portrayal of Park Sae Ro-Yi for he amplifies the charm that readers see in the character. He also says to show a lot of interest in the new drama because they will recreate the webtoon with an even profound story and show beautiful new sights.
