The "Melting Me Softly" actor went viral on several social media platforms including Naver on December 19. It was after Ji Chang Wook went live on Instagram while smoking a cigarette.

After going live, the actor has also posted a photo of him with a cigarette on his mouth together with the caption "I fell cold and I cannot sleep, but I'm happy" on his Instagram story.

Screenshots of the story instantly spread online gaining mixed reactions from netizens. Ji Chang Wook landed the number 1 spot on the most searched person on Naver. Even though there were a lot of negative comments regarding the story, Chang Wook's fans defended the actor saying "what's the big deal? A lot of people smoke and drink these days."

On the other hand, some netizens said "he's a public figure. So many young people drink and smoke illegally, how much more after seeing there idol do this?" and "sure nothing is wrong with the post, but as a public figure, why would you post it?"

Then again, people also commented that Ji Chang Wook is already 30 years old and is well-aware of his actions. "Celebrities are also humans, they eat, drink, and yes, even smoke. It's not like smoking cigarettes is illegal," another fan posted on a social media site.
