Famous actor Go Soo discussed the reason why he decided to star in tvN's upcoming drama titled "Money Game."
The drama is about the major Korean banks that are failing and are on the verge of declaring bankruptcy. The story revolves around a group of employees in the Financial Services Commission who are in charge to try to stop the country from falling into a second IMF crisis.
IMF crisis means the financial crisis experienced by Korean people in the late 1990s, which was caused by the severe foreign exchange shortage on the verge of default of South Korea in December 1997.
Twenty years after the IMF's outbreak, the drama portrays the conflict between the head of the Financial Policy Bureau pursuing to get rid of the Jungin Bank, which is on the edge of going bankrupt with one-third of the government's shares, and the Chairman of Finance, who is planning to hand over the bank to the Bahamas, a private equity fund on Wall Street.
Go Soo plays the role of Chae Yi Heon, an economic government official who has a hidden secret which is that he is from a family with lots of money so that he can be acknowledged for his own abilities.
Lee Sung Min plays the role of Heo Jae, an ambitious chairman who will do whatever it takes to reach his goals, while Shim Eun Kyug plays the role of Lee Hye Jun, a young woman who is a newbie to the workforce but has passion and morality.
Go Soo's first return on the small screen after two years is playing the role of Chae Yi Heon in this upcoming drama "Money Game". He stated that a lot of people are now interested in the economy these days. He said, he chose this particular drama because he felt that it would be a fun and interesting drama that has a strong connection with the audience.
He also said that when he saw the script of the drama for the first time, he thinks that it has something incredible. He told the viewers to look for what incredible thing that he is referring to when the show airs. He added that the script will be more interesting and fun as the show goes on. He said that there is no reason for him not to do this drama.
For the people that are thinking that a drama about the economy would be hard to understand, Go Soo responded that the drama "Money Game" is first and foremost a story about us and about the economy of Korea, when watching it you would not think for a second that the story is difficult or uptight. He added that lately, there are a lot of economic films released like the film "Black Money" which is loved by many. And he thinks that the viewers are open and ready for these kinds of films.
When he was asked to give a reason to watch the drama, the actor said, "I'm going to borrow the words of director Kim Sang Ho. He said with certainty that it's a drama with a fun cast. As an actor, I enjoyed a lot while filming this drama."
