The Fans of the actor Lee Seung Gi have celebrated the birthday of their idol in a very special way by giving out donations to the Severance Hospital.
Lee Seung Gi is considered one of the most sought after commercial models and famous celebrity endorsers in South Korea. He is well known for his clean and positive image which earned him the nickname of "Nation's umchina" and "Nation's Little Brother". He is an endorser of a wide variety of products and services and always ranks top in the monthly endorser survey of the Korea Advertisers Association.
On October 30, 2012, the National Election Commission of South Korea declared Lee Seung Gi as the Honorary Online Ambassador of the nation's campaign for a fair and clean presidential election. His 21 months of mandatory military service as active duty soldier began on February 1, 2016. He then entered the Nonsan Army Recruit Training Center in Chungcheongnam-do.
He trained hard in the center for five weeks and after that he was dispatched to his assigned role following the completion ceremony. He was formally dismissed from the military service last on October 31, 2017 at Jeungpyeong County in North Chungcheong Province. He served there as a member of the special forces (13th Special Forces Brigade 'Black Panther', Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command.
On December 18th of last year, it was reported that Lee Seung Gi had donated an amount of 100 million won approximately $86,700 to the Severance Hospital in Sinchon. The purpose of the donation is to help patients undergoing rehabilitation.
This January 13th 2020, the actor and his fan's club AIREN celebrated his birthday in a special way to help again those in need. According to some sources they have donated a total of 10 million won approximately $8,675 to patients who are undergoing rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries in Severance Hospital in Sinchon.
Lee Seung Gi is indeed gifted with a kind and loving heart. He started sharing his blessings in 2009. Lee Seung Gi had donated 1 million won approximately $867 weekly to families who appeared on KBS's "Field Report Companion" his donation reached out to a total of 100 million won (approximately $86,700). Not only that he donated money but the actor also volunteered to personally seeks out the families and help them.
His fan called AIREN also made numerous donations since his debut including celebration of his birthday, for his debut anniversary, his concerts, and to his drama sets. Sources said that they've donated 27 tons of rice, coal briquettes, instant noodles, and 2,857 electric fans for a total of 142 million won's estimated $123,200 worth of donations.
In addition, they have also contributed in our nature in a way that they have grown forests in Lee Seung Gi's name all over the world. And also volunteered in children's hospitals.
Lee Seung Gi shared, "For the consistent love I've received from the public since my debut, I thought I should have a positive influence on our society, so I donated to the Sinchon Severance Hospital. I am so happy that my fans have joined me once again. I hope to be of at least a little bit of help to those in pain around us so they can be relieved of their suffering and find hope."
