After four years of not being visible in the entertainment scene, Jun Ji Hyun finally confirmed her appearance in the forthcoming second season of the drama series 'Kingdom'. Her comeback role excites her followers following her TV series in 2017, 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' with actor Lee Min Ho.
In November last year, there was a reported article from Sports Chosun that mentioned Jun Ji Hyun to join the finale cast of Netflix original series 'Kingdom'. Due to good reviews and recommendations from season 1, the management released a new script with actors returning to the big screen.
According to the reports, Jun Ji Hyun's participation in 'Kingdom' has been kept under wraps, even from the other cast members and production team within Netflix. When she filmed her scenes, she never joined the original taping set. Culture Depot, the agency of Jun Ji Hyun, confirmed this but did not divulge any further details.
The reports also gave hints that Jun Ji Hyun might play a major part in the third season. Since she is set to appear in the show's finale episode, the continuation will arise on the third season, just like what the rumors say. This is yet to be confirmed though.
An article also surfaced, stating that Jun Ji Hyun is in talks with script writer Kim Eun Hee for a new drama, titled 'Jirisan' (working title). If the drama pushes through, this will then be Jun Ji Hyun's major leading role in 2020. The cast and production staff are probably polishing this one, and they will announce it once they're all confirmed.
Curious as to what we can expect from 'Kingdom' season 2? Prince Chang (played by Ju Ji-hoon) is doing his best to lead a throng of people to combat and eradicate the zombies rapidly swarming the nation. The prince also has another goal, which is to take back his rightful throne.
'Kingdom' is set in the Joseon Dynasty, where Prince Chang finds out the condition of his people who live in poverty-stricken areas while he was uncovering the truth behind his father's, the King, health.
Speaking of Jun Ji Hyun's personal life, her spouse Choi Joon Hyuk is now the CEO of an investment firm in South Korea. The couple got married in 2012 and are now parents to two beautiful children. An estimated asset amounting to 350 billion holds the investment firm's on the top ending month of February 2020.
Jun Ji Hyun is notable for her role in the highest-grossing romantic comedy film 'My Sassy Girl' in 2004.
