On the most recent episode of the JTBC variety show "Ask Us Anything," Actress Park Shin Hye showcased some fun tricks of the trade!
Last March 7 episode of "Ask Us Anything," the actress was present at the show as a special guest together with Kim Sung Ryung and Jeon Jong Seo who are her co-stars in their upcoming movie titled "Call."
Throughout the program, Park Shin Hye shared her experience filming her famous drama "Stairway to Heaven," the classic drama by SBS which made her acting debut way back in the year 2003. There was a scene where Lee Hwi Hyang's character slaps her, it was shot with multiple takes.
In this scene, Park Shin Hye revealed that she was slapped more than 30 times or so. The talented actress continued to explain that as far as she can remember in the drama "Stairway to Heaven" her character should be slapped about four times, but they had to film the scene from different angles. Up to this time, Lee Hwi Hyang still discusses that scene in some of her interviews stating that Park Shin Hye is the actress whom she feels the sorriest about because of that particular scene.
Then the variety host Kang Ho Dong asked the question if she ever felt sad about it at the time, Park Shin Hye responded saying that she did not feel bad at all and that she did not even have the time to have those kinds of thoughts. As soon as she was slapped hard, he just raised her head back up and continued acting. She added that even that part was fun for her back then.
An additional question was then asked by Super Junior's Kim Heechul, she asked if the actors nowadays still actually slap each other during filming? To that Park Shin Hye replied that these days, all the slapping scenes are usually faked. The production's sound effects and editing are really great.
All of the scenes can be edited to make it look real. Park Shin Hye demonstrated how it is being done. She explained that if you bring your hand down diagonally from behind then the actor that is going to be slapped will lower his head at the right and perfect timing so the result is pretty convincing.
Both Heechul and Park Shin Hye joined together at the front of the classroom for a demonstration, Park Shin Hye taught the Super Junior star the right timing for turning his head away showing the viewers as if he'd been slapped. The actress also added that if she tosses her hair forward at the same time, it looks even more real.
Comedian Lee Soo Geun is also present at the side of the demonstration to add a sound effect at the right time of slapping. Then, Park Shin Hye and Heechul continued to act out a fight in which she pretended to slap him with all her strength. To be able to make it more convincing, Heechul made his hat fly off from the force of her fake-slap, and the cast and crew were amazed at how real the scene looked.
