"It has been three days already since I had to send my beloved son to heaven. As a father, I still cannot believe that this would happen, my heart is still in great pain but I will try to be brave for those people who mourned, cried and suffered with us during my son's funeral."
He also shared some of his memories with his son, including the time when he realized his dream to act.
"When my son was in middle school he expressed his desire to become an actor. Since the acting school is very far from our home, whenever he walks to the school, he would always practice his pronunciation and do vocalization his upcoming audition. He was very passionate about his dream to become an actor," Moon Kwang Suk recounted before adding that Moon Ji Yoon began his career when he was 19.
"By that time he was able to make many Television appearances and made various projects. I recalled the time when he was chosen to cast in a project, he would never let go of the script in his hands. He is clearly determined not to disappoint the staffs including the director, and the writer," the later actor's dad went on.
Moon Kwang Suk also recalled one of the last moments he shared with his son. He wrote, "Before. he went to Jeju Island for a commercial shoot. He said it was really fun and that He was very grateful at the same time because the commercial director had appreciated his acting skills and talked to me for a long time about it... Turned out it was his last project."
He added, "He made his decision to work hard for his career but one day, he experienced pain in his throat. The following day he had a high fever, he was rushed to the hospital and was admitted but passed away three days later."
Moon Kwak Sung told the public that they are planning to hold a private funeral for his son because of the COVID-19 situation in South Korea, but many people still came to pay their respects and send their condolences to the family. He expressed his gratitude to them and wrote, "Thank you for taking part in my Ji Yoon's final journey and you made it less lonely not just for us but also for him."
The father also thanked Ji Yoon's fans, directors, writers, production staff, and co-workers for the sympathies and their grief. He also thanked Ji Yoon's acquaintances in the basketball team, the reporters and the broadcasters who are present to cover his son's passing in the public.
Moon Kwang Suk paid his gratitude to the agency that accepted his son and appreciated all of his hard work, and to Ji Yoon's friends since elementary and middle school.
"When I think about the people who I am very grateful for, I can't help but cry again. We sent my son with the things he loved the most when he was alive here on earth. The car, the script he liked, the music, his favorite coffee, and milk tea. I believe that he could never ask for anything more at this moment, he was happy and will not be lonely in his final journey as he will be safe in God's hands," he said.
"As a father, I would like everyone to stop being sad for his passing and instead remember the good times we spent with him and remember his figure as a kind and well passionate actor Moon Ji Yoon. My wife and I cannot pay our gratitude to those people who have sent us their grief because of the current circumstances so we ask all of your understanding. Thank you once again, thank you for reading this long letter," he concluded.
