tvN's upcoming family drama "My Unfamiliar Family" has revealed its first poster!
"My Unfamiliar Family" is a story about a family having battles that are kept hidden to themselves, making them distant from each other much like strangers. Their aloof relationship is captured vividly by the first poster of the show. They are all awkwardly grinning, like somewhat they are being forced to smile as if they had no choice since it supposed to be a family picture. Although, Kim Ji Suk as Park Chan Hyuk is just a friend.
The drama will feature how children slowly spend less time with their parents and forget that they are not getting younger. In reality, this, too, is happening most of the time. Children often disregard their parents thinking that they are okay even though we do not spend quality time with them.
The small gap extends as they grow up to a point where the members of the family become strangers to each other and would find it easier for them to share their worries and feelings to other people.
Family becomes strangers and strangers become a family is something we thought as the new normal, so the family drama hopes to bring families closer.
Han Ye Ri (35), an award-winning South Korean actress, will play the role of the second daughter as Kim Eun Hee in the family. This is her first role as someone optimistic, soft-hearted, and too considerate. Kim Eun Hee will be working in a publishing company where Shin Dong-wook is the senior vice president.
Kim Ji-suk (38), real name is Kim Bo Seok, started as a rapper in the five-member Eurodance boyband LEO way back in 2001. Kim Ji-suk will play as Park Chan Hyuk, her college friend of 15 years. Park Chan Hyuk is a free-spirited and independent person who will be guiding Kim Eun Hee and help her get back into the dating game. She considers him more as his brother.
The multi-awarded, 41-year-old mother, Chu Ja-Hyun, also joins the drama as the eldest daughter in the family. She worked mostly in mainland China since 2007 and even got married to Chinese singer and actor Yu Xiaoguang.
Chu Ja-hyun will play as Kim Eun Joo, a practical realist and a former patent attorney making her character, harsh, irritable and impatient. She will be the wife of Kim Tae-hoon (Kingdom 2), the eldest son in a family of doctors.
A young and talented actor, Shin Jae-ha 27, from the hit 2014 television drama Pinocchio, plays Han and Chu's younger brother, the energetic mood-maker of the family. He will be Kim Eun Hee's sensitive younger brother, Kim Jin Woo.
Jung Jin-young, a 55 year-old veteran South Korean actor, is the head of the family while Won Mi Kyung, 59, will be their mother who has long been a housewife.
The producers commented that each member would have at least one secret that the family can never know. It will be a setting that is comparable to the ordinary lives of people. The producers want to bring a mix of strong emotions and laughter where most ordinary people can relate to.
"My Unfamiliar Family" will premiere on May 18 at 9 p.m. KST.
