At this point, to say that "The World of The Married" was loved by many is an understatement. The JTBC series has been considered to have the highest viewership ratings in the cable network's history!
Based on BBC's "Doctor Foster," it tells a story of a married couple whose infidelity leads to a rollercoaster of revenge, grief, forgiveness, and healing. It stars Kim Hee Ae, Park Hae Joon, and Han So Hee.
It's safe to say that "The World of The Married" became such a massive hit due to its relatability to real-life people's struggles, and it contains lessons for viewers, like the ones we mentioned below.
1. Remember the main reason why you love your partner
Cheating leads to a whole new set of problems, but one of the most painful things that the other party will experience is a lot of self-sabotage. The one being cheated will definitely question why, and it will lead to self-doubt, self-loathing, and self-esteem issues. They will have a hard time entering new relationships and trusting them. It just brings the question of how someone can go from marrying a person because they love them so much and to hurt them through the most painful ways.
Sometimes, it just takes a matter of remembering the main reason why you love your partner and why you chose someone to spend the rest of your whole life with. Most days, the bad moments overpower the good, but it takes a matter of remembering one good thing to bring you into the right path.
2. Communication is key
In Tae Oh and Sun Woo's relationship, so many things could have been avoided if he only said what he felt. If he was able to tell Sun Woo that he was unhappy about their current situation, they could have done a number of things to heal their relationship, such as therapy, where they can work out their differences. Despite it being difficult, he should have told his wife that he didn't love her anymore.
Most relationships tend to leave out the most important thing that they can do: being honest with each other, especially how they feel towards each other.
3. Give yourself a time to heal
It seems unbelievable that Tae Oh can move on to his mistress just like that, even after the wife discovers his affair. It doesn't take a matter of time when he does everything with his mistress the same way he did with his wife. This gives viewers the thought that Tae Oh was not able to healthily get over his first wife, which hurts him and his mistress, which adds more salt to the wound. If Tae Oh had time to think within himself, it could have led him into healing. Healing can do a lot to a person the same as bringing a person to a right state of mind.
We all know that if Tae Oh didn't commit the affair, it would bring no story, but it's things like these that make Korean dramas worth the watch. Not only is one entertained, but it gives us stories to relate to, and we definitely get something out of it, which we can all apply in real life.
