Korean celebrities work hard to maintain long careers and continue to be in the limelight industry. However, others might be unlucky, leading them to stop taking the path of their chosen career. Some may choose to live a life with their family, stop due to scandal, or may retire for their reason. Whatever it may be, they have contributed to the history of Korean drama.
Check out these few actors who won't be appearing on-screen for now or never again due to unfortunate reasons:
Lee Seo Won
He was 21 years old back in 2018 when he was charged as criminal due to alleged sexual harassment to a female celebrity. In addition, according to reports, he also threatened a female colleague with a knife when he was drunk.
Though he pleaded guilty to these crimes, his image as an actor lost in activity inside the industry. He was removed from being the host in "Music Bank'' and a cast in the upcoming drama "About Time." His image was viewed negatively by the Korean general public. Lee Seo Won appeared in drama series, "Uncontrollably Fond," "Hospital Ship," and "The Liar and His Lover."
Kang Ji Hwan
He was apprehended by the police last year 2019, at his house after they received a report of sexual assault and harassment. It was an incident with two female staff members that he sexually acted with while they were asleep, and he was drunk.
Following his arrest, he canceled all his activities and went to plead guilty in court. But he changed his statement and admitted to the majority of charges in a statement. Last month, the court advised to uphold the original ruling of a prison sentence of two years and six months that is suspended for three years of probation.
Seo Min Jung
She was known for her role in "Unstoppable High Kick" during her time as an actress. But in 2007, she chose to retire and live in the US with her Korean-American husband, who is a dentist. She lived a normal life in New York and focuses on taking care of her children and husband.
In 2019, Seo Min Jung appeared in one of the radio shows in the US as BTS's interpreter for American online radio SiriusXM. However, during this time, she received backlash from BTS fans, after allegedly using the K-pop group to promote items for free. This is after she gave hats to the members claiming that she made them; but it turns out it was her friend's business products. She apologized later on.
Jang Mi In Ae
Early this year, the Korean government suffered an overwhelming case of COVID-19 infection. In their aim to help their citizens, President Moon Jae released an urgent disaster support policy to help provide financial aid to low-income families.
The actress made a comment on her social media platform and criticized the action of the government. Soon after, she received a major backlash, and the viewers gave harsh criticism due to her attitude. She decided to retire as an actress after what happened.
Lee Tae Im
In 2015, the actress was involved in a controversy over a leaked video of a cursing incident with Yewon. She suffered difficulty in getting close to anyone, giving her some trust issues. In 2018 she got pregnant and married to a businessman. The actress soon released a post on her IG account of her decision to retire and leave the entertainment industry.
Her management agency was shocked and concluded with the decision of the actress. Last year, Lee Tae Im's husband was reportedly jailed for financial fraud by taking illegal gains by artificially inflating targeted companies' stock prices. Until now, the actress maintains a low profile, and no updates circulated about her comments on the issue.
