The webtoon "True Beauty" is going to have its small-screen adaptation, and its artist came out to the public after her debut last year together with the celebration of its first anniversary.

This year, the webtoon series' fans worldwide have been elated and can't wait to see its live-action characters ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo and actress Moon Ga Young.

But in the midst of celebration, the webtoon began receiving malicious comments online for possibly "violating the publicity rights of many Korean celebrities" and their K-pop visuals. Many have noticed that while the character Lee Su Ho is thought to be modeled after ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, the character Han Seo Jun is like a doppelganger of Kwon Hyun Bin, also known as Viini.

The visuals created for the lead characters have similarities, though many look at it as artistic inspiration. The webtoon artist introduced a new character MC Ye Jin, who has a resemblance to the fashion model and TV personality Han Hye Jin. Online users who are following the story are questioning if the webtoonist could be violating the publicity rights of these Korean celebrities.

The controversy arose, concerning the webtoonist's characters that look like the other celebrities and if the webtoonist is getting any approval to recreate real-life people to add to the story.

The webtoon artist, known for her pen name Yaongyi, then expressed her thoughts on her Instagram account. On her IG stories, she posted a blog post that showed how Disney also used real-life models to create characters for their animated movies, like "Peter Pan" and "101 Dalmatians."

After expressing her side through the blog post, the webtoonist claimed that she'd be taking legal action due to the overwhelming and aggressive comments she had been receiving.

As for the netizens, they questioned if she had asked permission from these Korean celebrities to be added in her story. Readers are concerned if such action is acceptable in spite of her reason that Disney might have used real-life people they hired and paid their models.

Yaongyi, now using her real name Kim Na Young, addresses those who gave harsh comments on her social media account.

She wrote, "I stayed quiet all this time and why? I will now get legal help to these people who made malicious comments. Anybody who has something to say leave it in the comments. Be sure to use your actual account and not the fake one. I will not be checking my DMs anymore."

Yaongyi became popular when she appeared to the public as the webtoon artist with real talent and beauty. Many admired her physical appearance and made the character Jugyeong Lim come to life with her stories - a girl who uses her talent for makeup to improve her looks.
